How to become a member

Register Online

To become a member and be eligible to purchase medicinal cannabis products from our society, you must complete our application process.

First, read the forms which explains how to Receive our Services. Once you understand our procedures, you must complete and sign the Membership Application OR Register Online.

Doctors Recommendation

We ask that your health care practitioner (physician, naturopath, or doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine) complete our Practitioner’s Statement of Diagnosis OR our medical document which is included in the Practitioner’s Package and fax it to us directly from her/his office.(We will also accept Health Canada’s Medical Marijuana Access Division authorizations.)

Your health care provider may like to see the Letter from WNAM (included in the Practitioner’s Package) which explains our organization. We also require a completed Medical Information Release Form (included in the Membership Application Package) and then s/he will be able to fax us the Health Practitioner’s Statement of Diagnosis.
Additionally , our Medical Information Release form can be signed and given to your doctor to encourage them to send a confirmation of your medical condition, even if they will not fill in our form. For further insurance, you can release your medical practitioner from any potential liability by providing the CMPA Release Form for Medical Practitioners (included in your to your Practitioners package).

Mail

Send your completed Application Package and Health Practitioner’s package to WNAM.

We’ll inform you as soon as you are approved, provide you with your personal ID number, and you can begin ordering online from WNAM.

Finding a Doctor

While many health practitioners recognize the effectiveness of cannabis as medicine, we realize that there are some who are still uncomfortable recommending cannabis or even completing the form. Some health practitioners may fear professional repercussions or may feel that they are not fully informed about the benefits of medicinal cannabis. Depending on your condition (see below), a confirmation of diagnosis may be sufficient for membership. If a health practitioner states your medical diagnosis, but does not recommend medicinal cannabis use due to their personal bias/reason, you can still become a member of WNAM.

In order to maintain the confidentiality of our members and their healthcare providers, we are not able to refer you to doctors who have signed statements in the past. There are many compassionate doctors and online resources to connect you with doctors out there, such as GrowLegally.ca. We encourage you to keep trying. After we receive the necessary documentation from your health practitioner, and it is confirmed, you will have met the criteria for membership.
